College and University Teachers
The NSDL is working to bring research-level data tools to your classroom or lab. Your students can experiment with real data observations or run models without needing to know complicated software. Learn how you can get involved!

All I want is to find resources
I have lessons and other resources and all I need is a tool to bring data to these This means you are ready to look at existing applications, or to request an application (both are available above). Foundry data tools are made to be extended and customized with your content. RECOMMENDATION: fill in the "Request an Application" form (above). I can do simple IDL or Director programming how does this fit? The Foundry is working to create a range of tools for authoring new applications where all the difficult programming has been done, and user-authors can create new, custom applications with their own basic Director skills. If you use only IDL, then you wil need to either fit this into an existing application shell, or let us know how we can customize one of the shells for your data visualization needs. RECOMMENDATION: fill in the "Request an Application" form (above). I program in Lingo and want to collaborate Then you've found a community of friends and a load of new resources. Go directly to the Foundry Floor and we can sign you up as a developer. Welcome aboard! I use other data tools, such as ArcGIS, what can you do for me? Browse Software Central and Future Technology and if you are interested in seeing how your COTS sofware tools and skills can be used, send us an email. We will be expanding the Foundry in the future (with help). Do I need an NSDL Workspace Account? If so, how do I get one? You do NOT need an account to read/post to open forums, be added to mail lists, or to download released files. You DO need an account to collaborate on code and documentation via CVS, view private workspaces (if added to the group), and administer workspaces. Requesting a New Account First email the Foundry and get their OK. They will send you a UNIX user name. Once you have the user name, please send a request for a new user account, including your association with the Data Discovery Toolkit and Foundry NSDL project. These accounts are limited to active NSDL collaborators. After we receive your request, we will send you instructions. Once your account is created and approved, you can login as this user anytime using the Login via SSL option on the NSDL Communication homepage. When you login you are presented with your personal page; any workspaces you are involved in are listed, along with other bookmarks and links to forums or documents you want to monitor. Once you a registered user, if you want to JOIN a workspace as an NSDL collaborator, email an administrator for that workspace and request to be added. The admins are listed on the Summary page of the workspaces. Collaborators need to be members of a workspace if they will be developing code or documents with that group or if the workspace is private, to monitor it. |
