CIPE Joins EDDC ESIP |
||
Established in 1992, the Center for Image Processing in Education (CIPE) is a nonprofit organization located in Tucson, Arizona. CIPE’s staff includes instructional materials developers, programmers, and business administration personnel. CIPE’s mission is to help teachers and students use computers to explore data, conduct scientific investigations, and make decisions about real world issues. In support of this mission, CIPE offers professional development workshops for K-14 educators and develops instructional materials that employ digital image processing and analysis software and geospatial information systems as tools for learning about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Developed with funding from the National Science Foundation, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Geographic Society, NASA, National Institutes of Health, and other sources the workshops and instructional materials are provided to teachers, schools, school districts, and undergraduate institutions on a cost-recovery basis. CIPE’s ready-to-implement lessons help students use software to think spatially and geospatially, conduct research with real research data, and learn about themselves, their home communities, planet Earth, and other worlds. Each CIPE product includes a lesson book and a CD-ROM. All lessons are correlated to national science, technology, engineering, and mathematics standards. Technical support for CIPE’s materials is provided online, by email, and via a toll free telephone number. |
